Finding UK Jobs

When the world economy fell into recession last year, finding a job got much harder. Suddenly, job seekers had to worry about much more than their CVs or interview skills. With unemployment rates skyrocketing, they had to become resourceful and learn everything they could about the job market. And when it comes to uk jobs there are several things every applicant should know.

As in other countries, most people apply for positions in companies when they read about vacancies published in the UK press. The classifieds remain a popular way for citizens in the UK to look for work, but it is a bit speculative and will rarely provide the applicant with all the information he or she needs.

Many people who fail to find positions after a few weeks with the morning paper end up visiting recruitment or vocational guidance centres. These agencies offer public employment services that may aid you in your job search. (more...)

In light of the current worldwide economic recession, most people are putting off major purchases as long as they possibly can. That includes items like houses and cars. But what do you do when you absolutely need a new car because your old one has been carted off to the junk yard and its final repose? What exactly do you do then?

Well, while you can’t buy a used home for much less than a new one, you can certainly find a used vehicle at a substantial discount to new models. And that, it seems, is what many consumers are doing as they try to save their money and wait out the recession.

But when you’re looking for used cars for sale there are several important things you must know. To begin with, we have a good news, bad news scenario for you. Okay, we’ll go easy and start with the good news first. Good news: Nowadays most reputable dealerships only offer used or previously owned vehicles if they have undergone a thorough inspection; and many of these dealerships also offer full or partial warranties. Bad News: The used cars that are sold by dealerships are more expensive than those you might find on a used car lot. (more...)

Should Immigrants Learn to Speak English?

We pride ourselves on being a part of a tolerant and totally accepting society. Indeed this is the primary reason why so many foreign nationals decide to travel to the UK as their preferred choice within Europe.

Living in such a society is all very well, but at the end of the day, this does put a strain on our economy and one of the biggest cash drainers is the multitude of translation services that need to be laid on for different nationalities.

Many people believe that it should be a prerequisite for all people looking to live in the UK to Learn to speak English. It must be accepted, however, that people need to come to our country in a desperate hurry to escape danger within their homeland, therefore not everyone would be able to speak the language upon arrival. Enrollment in UK Schools on the Rise

According to a recent report, there are more young people enrolled in college or in training than ever before. The percentage of 16 to 18 year olds that take classes is over 82 percent. That is a three percent increase from just last year.

There are several reasons why this increase is so important. First and most obviously is the fact that education and training gives youngsters more options, particularly in a bad economy. At present, the unemployment rate for young people in the 16-18 year-old age group is at its highest level in a decade and a half. Less than half of them are employed, which is down from nearly two-thirds in 2007.

What this tells us is that without an education or proper training, young people simply cannot compete in a bad economy. Even without designer childrens clothing these youngsters rarely succeed without a diploma. Their unemployment rate has been the highest in the UK for decades now. (more...)
